LINK Strategic Partners Receives Three Communitas Awards for Excellence in Low Bono and Pro Bono Work
DC-Based Communications & Community Engagement Firm Wins for Outstanding Work with Organizations Focused on Immigration, Women, and Youth Leadership
WASHINGTON (February 27, 2020) – LINK Strategic Partners is proud to have earned three Communitas Awards for our work with community partners across the country. These awards recognize excellence in low bono and pro bono services.
Communitas Awards recognized LINK for its work with Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights (CAIR) Coalition, an organization that advocates for all immigrants at risk of detention and deportation in the Washington, DC region; Washington Area Women’s Foundation (WAWF) DC, a regional organization that strives to ensure that economically vulnerable women and girls have the resources they need to thrive; and Hugh O’Brian Youth Organization (HOBY), a national service organization that teaches high schoolers leadership and philanthropic skills.
In LINK’s second year of supporting CAIR Coalition, the firm helped the organization to simplify legal terms and processes into easy-to-digest information, and provided media training to multiple lawyers working on behalf of the organization. LINK also continues to support CAIR Coalition in fielding media inquiries and developing talking points to emphasize the importance of universal representation for detained immigrants.
LINK also continues to provide pro bono communications and government engagement support for WAWF’s annual Leadership Luncheon. The Leadership Luncheon is WAWF’s annual opportunity to engage with partners and funders and share with them the impact of their work on the lives of DC women and girls. For every year of LINK’s social media support, the event was a trending topic in DC. In 2019, LINK garnered 1.45 million total impressions in event-related content during the week of the luncheon.
LINK has provided pro bono communications and media relations support for many of HOBY’s activations and fundraisers. Last year, LINK provided media relations support for HOBY’s massive community service project in Humboldt Park during its annual World Leadership Conference. More than 400 high school students from across the country and around the world gathered at Humboldt Park in Northwest Chicago to participate in a community service project to provide 1,500 hours of service valued at over $125,000.
“As a social impact firm, we are deeply honored that LINK has earned these awards for our pro bono partnerships with incredible community partners,” LINK President Michael Akin said. “We are very proud to have created a business model that does not force a false choice between doing well and doing good.”
The Communitas Awards is an international effort to recognize exceptional businesses, organizations and individuals that are unselfishly giving of themselves and their resources, and those that are changing how they do business to benefit their communities.
