She is committed to storytelling and advocacy, and believes that LINK offers a dynamic platform to continue her work of connecting and uplifting communities.
Jay made history as the first woman of trans experience to serve as both the 64th Executive President and the 63rd Executive Vice President of the Howard University Student Association (HUSA). Throughout her tenure in student government, she has led various departments, including special projects and programs, sustainability, public relations, student advocacy, public safety, and campus health.
Among her many accomplishments, Jay played a pivotal role in the creation of the first-ever "Green Job Fair," grew HUSA's social media presence by over 2,000 followers, and helped Howard University navigate crises such as the Pepco energy outage and the safety concerns surrounding the Plaza Towers. Additionally, Jay championed the largest LGBTQ+ rights initiative in Howard University history, which included securing funding for LGBTQIA programming, implementing training for staff and faculty on LGBTQIA awareness, and establishing a cross-campus committee composed of students, staff, faculty, and alumni.
Before joining LINK, Jay interned with political campaign groups such as MBA Consulting and SKDK, and also held a position as a Leadership Development Intern at Chase, where she focused on innovative communication strategies for both employees and customers.
Outside of her professional life, Jay is an avid runner currently training for her first half-marathon. She enjoys spending time with friends and loves exploring new destinations through travel.
